It's cold!

You're probably thinking what an obvious blog title but it was my first thought when I woke up this morning.

So the car says -4degrees and I'm currently freezing my tootsies and fingers off! Whilst listening to the new William and britney song (weird!)

Will we have a white Christmas?! Who knows! All I'm currently bothered about is how cold it is and whether I make it to work on time because let's face it in the uk a bit of cold, ice, fog makes the entire country come to a stand still (odd I know as it happens every year!).

I wish we lived in one of those countries that rather than closing at summer (we don't get one :( ) closed in winter as let's face it, it's far too cold to function!

Hope you all have a lovely day and wrap up warm No colds before Christmas!

Rant of the day- girls who play dumb to impress boys...

Ok, here we go another rant...
This links on from my previous blog about girls putting other girls down!

Too many times during a day I come across girls who are independent and intelligent HOWEVER in walks a boy and hey presto they start talking with a high pitched voice and the simplest of things become hard for them.

WHY??!!!!

Now I don't really understand this because perhaps:
a) I've never been in that situation where I need to impress someone by acting thick (perhaps I should try it!), and
b) I've always wanted someone to appreciate me for my brains and not how I look...

I think I actually have a partial answer to my own question though (I'm sure I'm not the only one asking this question and I'm sure even guys ask it!).

Do this for me:
Switch on the tv, and put on a programme with predominantly females in (keeping up with the kardashians, the only way is essex- although the guys in that act dumb too etc), what are all the women doing, they talk with these really strange droned high pitch accents and say the dumbest of things. In fact so dumb I am going to devise a list of quotes right now:

- Britney Spears: “I am for the death penalty. Who commits terrible acts must get a fitting punishment. That way he learns the lesson for the next time.”

- Christina Aguilera: So, where’s the Cannes Film Festival being held this year?”

- Pamela Anderson: “I don’t really think about anything too much. I live in the present. I move on. I don’t think about what happened yesterday. If I think too much, it kind of freaks me out.”

-Jessica Simpson: “I’m not anorexic. I’m from Texas. Are there people from Texas that are anorexic? I’ve never heard of one. And that includes me.”

- Brooke Shields: "Smoking kills. If you're killed, you've lost a very important part of your life."

- Britney Spears:"I've never really wanted to go to Japan. Simply because I don't like eating fish. And I know it's very popular out there in Africa."

- Kim Kardashian: "We decided to film for the wedding. And that was a decision he and I made together. But I think that with any decisions in life, like, I spoke to a girl today who had cancer and we were talking about how this is such a hard thing for her, but it taught her a big lesson on who her friends are and so much about life. She's 18. And I was like that's how I feel."

I could actually go on and on however I shall leave it there (for now). Looking at the quotes above its a wonder why we aren't dumber than we already perceive ourselves to be. Those "role models" younger girls idolise can barely string two sentences together and unfortunately teach girls to dumb themselves down. It is not cool to be clever, because these women are not the ones who are splashed across magazines, all over TV etc its the not so bright ones using their other "assets" that are. So then who would a young girl admire?!

It is so so so important for a woman to be educated, independent and intelligent. Beauty is not just what people see on the outside but it also exists inside and this is what we should be teaching the women and girls around us, that the world does not begin and end on someone's looks. The most boring person is one who lacks substance, and the one who lacks substance is one who can only bring their looks to the table and nothing else. How attractive is it to be beautiful and intelligent? I think it is possibly THE best combination in the world. Intelligence makes you even more beautiful and captivating (probably because there is so little of it out there in the world).

To all the girls out there that think they will not be able to find a man because they are far too educated or intelligent, you are completely wrong. If this is the case you are trying to attract the wrong sort of man. Do not be afraid to speak your mind, to have an intelligent conversation, be educated, be wise and be independent. Respect yourself and a man worthy of you will respect you- and that is the kind of man worth having.

Nail-aholic continued...

Today I bought three gorgeous Barry m colours and an MUA nail caviar (see below for picture).

With Barry m nail varnishes I always find them to be of great quality and intensity of colour and as long as you too coat the majority are chip resistant (for at least a few days). They have a huge selection of colours and they are so affordable that they can become anyone's go to brand for nail varnishes.

Also, they seem to do a "copy" of some of the more expensive brands such as Chanel's Particulière 505 with their own called Mushroom. As well as this, today's purchase of SLE B 244 (strange name I know) is very similar to my OPI colour Rainbow Connection.

The caviar is actually part of a Christmas present for someone but I think I might try it myself one day if I fancy a fiddle!!! Cannot wait to try these new colours out they all look sooo pretty.

The colours (left to right):

- Barry M rose quartz glitter
- Barry M SLE B 2012
- Barry M Burgundy croc
- MUA (makeup academy) nail constellation

Cocktails

Love cocktails!!! Chaophraya mia mio ❤

Rant of the day- Morning Coffee

This morning I had a lovely coffee with one of my closest friends..it was at Casa Mias.
They do this deal where its like a coffee and a croissant for £2.95- BARGAIN!

For those of you who don't already know this but Casa Mias is an Italian restaurant.

The latte and chocolate croissant was so scrummy..however, I did get a teeny tiny bit annoyed that they kept trying to clear my plate when I still had some croissant on it... Also in the space of 3 minutes 4 different waiters/waitresses asked if we wanted some more coffee..

Now I don't know about you guys but does anyone else get annoyed by this when you're trying to have a conversation and someone asking the same question interrupts you. I am beginning to get an impression though it may be an "italian" thing because if I recollect Italian restaurants I have been to before do the exact same thing, so perhaps its like a culture thing?

If you're Italian and reading this perhaps let me know if it's something you just do?!

Rant of the day- the inconsistency of starbucks drinks

This is a short one as I am just about to go to bed, but has been bugging me all day since my coffee this morning.

Now I don't know about you but I LOVE starbucks (and yes I still do even after the whole tax thing!bad I know, I tried to boycott them a long time ago for various reasons but couldn't!), however is it just me or does every single drink (even if you order the exact same thing each time) taste different.

Sometimes my coffee is PERFECT...however a lot of the time its too sweet or too strong, or that annoying one when you order a venti but get a grande thats frothed to a venti?? hmm I ordered a latte not a cappuccino! It really really bugs me...

So I bet you're thinking why don't you just complain and ask them to make you another?Well I have various excuses for this:

1)I'm usually rushing to get the train/get to work etc so do not have time
2)I drink things slowly and probably am too far away from the coffee shop to go back (and too lazy!)
3)I'm far too scared to complain...

Ok so I have a real issue with number 3 it isn't a valid excuse. Does anyone else feel the same? I find it so difficult to complain if at a restaurant my meal isn't quite right, my drink isn't right AND also I can't return things, like I feel like I am being interrogated if I attempt to..
Once in London I complained about my starbucks drink because it tasted like water, and the man literally gave me the dirtiest of looks before re-making my drink. What happened to the customer is always right? And i'm sure starbucks has that thing written that goes a bit like this "If it's not right just tell us and we will make it again".

I have a really good friend that returns things for me, and will complain on my behalf..she's actually fearless in that respect which is really good!

Kind of gone off from the topic..BUT Starbucks surely you follow a set recipe for all your drinks? So why does it vary from store to store, in fact scrap that why does it vary from person to person even in the SAME store?

Do any of you have the same problem? Not just with Starbucks but also other coffee shops.. Let me know by commenting below :)

Keep smiling xoxo

Ps.perhaps this wasn't as short as I thought it would be...

Rant of the day- Why women put other women down?

For now I am going to do a daily rant of the day.

My first rant is why do women put other women down?

I think this may be a regular occurrence in my blog posts, but this is one thing that really really annoys me, to the point that I want to gather all women together and shake them and be like are you for real?

Now I don't know about you but I think that it's bad enough trying to live up to the media portrayal of women without adding to that with women slagging other women off.

Let's give a few examples:
"Oh my god she looks so fat in that dress"- celebrate curves, and she's probably happy!

"Skinny bitch" (I have admittedly done this but shall from this day forward stop)

"He's too good for her"- Oh and you are?

"Have you seen her hair/make up/dress/shoes"- unless your a world class fashion designer you can't really say this either

"What a slut/whore/slag"- I mean who are we to say these words???

I could go on..but I shan't we all know what we have said or heard other women say.

Now it comes to question do we do it to make ourselves feel better? I don't think it made me feel better when I said Skinny bitch...no it did not! So why do we do it?

As women we should learn to appreciate other women, what happened to girl power? We should stick together! We still live in a society where there is still not equal pay for men and women, and men still control most industries and women are used to sell things rather than make a difference. Women are still only appreciated for their beauty and not their brains.

This female misogyny is worrying and dangerous to society in my opinion. We live in a society where skinny and beautiful models are admired and looked up to rather than highly intelligent women making a difference to the world, making changes, and doing things for the better of humanity.
Most younger girls look up to and admire victoria secret  models (wanting to grow up and do that and look like them) they'd rather watch a victoria secret show than a UN conference for women around the world. It is much more important that they look good and intelligence and education isn't high up in the list of priorities.

Which brings me up to my next point and probably a subsequent blog...Why do girls play dumb to get guys to like them??? Never fails to amaze me.

Hello !!!

Hi,

As my first blog I thought I'd give you a general jist of what my blogs will be about.
Basically they are just my thoughts. Many people class me as outspoken, I'm away from the "norm" of my culture and the society around me, I don't just go with the general flow of people, I do my own research, I make my own mind up about things, I don't just believe what other people tell me.

So the blogs to follow? Well they'll just be everything to do with anything.

Enjoy

Keep smiling xoxo
